Bruno Santos a remporté cette semaine les trials du Billabong Pro Tahiti dans des vagues d’un peu moins de 2 mètres à Teahupoo. Le Brésilien décroche ainsi son ticket d’entrée pour l’étape du CT en s’imposant contre Nathan Hedge en finale. Vainqueur de l’event en 2008 en tant que wildcard, il faudra compter sur lui à partir du 19 août.
"Je suis très heureux, je me sens comme chez moi à Teahupoo. Nathan Hedge est mon idole. On a un style très similaire. Il a été excellent pendant tous les trials, la seule chose qui a fait pencher la balance c’est la chance.” Bruno Santos affrontera Matt Wilkinson et Stu Kennedy dans le Round 1. L’année dernière le brésilien avait réussi à atteindre le Round 5 en éliminant au passage Adriano de Souza.
Le meilleur local des trials, Hira Teriinatofa, sera lui aussi présent sur cette étape, il devra faire face à John John Florence et Davey Cathels au premier tour.
